The Lecht ski resort in Scotland has invested £400,000 in the modernisation of its snowmaking abilities.
As the winters get warmer and the lack of consistent snow cover. The 5 Scottish resorts have to produce snow to cover the slopes. In 2018 the Lecht install a snow factory that serves the nursery slopes no matter the weather, the wider area needs some support.
The newer machinery has the capacity to produce snow at -1ºc instead of -4ºc needed on the current older machinery. With more nights in Scotland falling to -1ªc means the Lecht will be able to make snow more nights and cover a wider area
With funding coming of £300,000 from Highlands & Islands enterprise a local development body and £80,000 from a crowdfunding scheme.
